The Avia Wildflower Triathlon says adventure, excitement, forboding (well, maybe not that). Where is it? How do you get there? How much is it going to cost? How do I get ready?

The Avia Wildflower Triathlon is a big gathering of triathlete who congregate at Lake San Antonio Park in South Eastern Monterey County, California. There are no hotels, only campsites. The best accomodations will be in one of those large bus sized RVs. I will probably rent a small RV. Probably I will drive 2200 miles from Huntsville Alabama to Bakersfield California in my 1997 Chrysler LHS. I just installed a Trailer Hitch Receiver and bought a bike rack that mounts to it. In Bakersfield, I expect to rent a small RV and trek about 130 miles to Lake San Antonio.

Cost: $275 for the registration. $260 for camping and miscellaneous. $700 for the RV. $600 for gas for the LHS. Good thing I will be able to combine the trip with a visit to see relatives.

Getting ready is the challenge. I have confidence that I can to the Swim (1.2 miles) and the bike (56 Miles) as I have done nearly that this winter. In December I ran the Rocket City Marathon, so I am thinking that if I continue training that I should be able to do it. I just have to do it.
